Navigating your child’s school success

Individualized Support

Individualized academic support that meets your child’s learning needs, while renewing a positive sense of self.

Remediation vs Tutoring? Remediation is a more precise form of tutoring. It is guided by expertise in supporting students who need a different approach to mastering certain academic skills. The strategies and techniques used are based on proven research methods. I use sequential, individualized, and targeted direct-instruction approaches to support students. I also know that the support needs to be fun!

Over the past 20 years I have created systematic remediation approaches that quickly and effectively moves a student towards mastery of the skills that are challenging. By using humor and a game-like approach, I can make the repetitive work that is necessary for mastery, fun and engaging. Not only do I support reading skills but also handwriting, expressive writing skills, and early math skills. I am very experienced supporting students who have trouble with their attention. As part of my work I nurture and rebuild the child’s fragile self confidence. My approach is support the whole child.

Even after 20 years of working with students I still find this work to be incredible rewarding. It is extraordinary when a student who was previously unable to read a simple word, is finally able to read on their own.

I offer 50-minute sessions on a weekly basis. The optimal number of sessions is two per week, but with supplementary home activities one session a week can be considered.
